This is one of the key projects in the Southern region, contributing to completing the international transport network and reducing the load on National Highway 22.
The Ho Chi Minh City - Moc Bai Expressway project is 51km long, starting from Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3 in Cu Chi district and ending at the intersection with National Highway 22, in Ben Cau district, Tay Ninh province.
This first phase will build 4 lanes, however site clearance will be carried out for a 6 lane scale to prepare for future expansion.
The total land use demand of the project is about 409.3 hectares, of which the section through Ho Chi Minh City needs to recover 182.25 hectares, affecting 1,808 households in 11 communes of Cu Chi district.
The total estimated investment for phase 1 of the Ho Chi Minh City - Moc Bai Expressway project is 19,617 billion VND.
The project will be divided into components with a combined public-private investment method. Component 1 is the main expressway, which will be implemented under a BOT (build-operate-transfer) contract with a total estimated investment capital of about VND10,421 billion.
Of which, investors will need to contribute about VND9,943 billion, equivalent to 95.41% of the project capital and the rest will be covered by the Ho Chi Minh City budget.
The remaining three components will be implemented in the form of public investment, including: Construction of a residential road and an overpass across the highway (about VND2,422 billion); compensation, support, and resettlement for the section through Ho Chi Minh City (about VND5,270 billion) and compensation, support, and resettlement for the section through Tay Ninh province (about VND1,504 billion).
According to the plan, the project will start construction on April 30, 2025 and is expected to be completed by the end of 2027. After being put into operation, the project's capital recovery period is expected to last 16 years and 9 months.
Investors can submit their interest in implementing the project from November 6 to December 31, 2024 to the Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board.
When completed, the Ho Chi Minh City - Moc Bai Expressway will not only be the shortest connecting route from Ho Chi Minh City to Cambodia via Moc Bai international border gate, but will also play an important role in increasing the capacity to exploit international transit routes between Ho Chi Minh City and ASEAN countries.
