On March 17, Ninh Thuan General Hospital was still treating victims in the gas poisoning incident under the hold of a cargo ship anchored at Trung Nam Ca Na port.
Mr. Le Huy Thach - Director of Ninh Thuan General Hospital, said that the health of the two victims in the gas poisoning incident who are being treated has stabilized and they are awake.
Previously, on the evening of March 16, a serious labor accident occurred on the cargo ship Truong Nguyen 18 (registered in Hai Phong) while anchored in the sea area of Ca Na commune, Ninh Thuan province to wait for schedule to enter Trung Nam Ca Na port to load goods.

According to initial information, Mr. T.D. T (45 years old, deputy chief engineer) went down to the ship's hold more than 2m deep to pump water out.
After a period of not being seen returning, Mr. T.V. T (25 years old, mechanic) went down to check but also did not return.
Discovering the incident, the crew members on the ship organized to call down but did not receive a response, then quickly deployed rescue. Through inspection, it was determined that there were a total of 5 people trapped under the ship's hold.
Rescue forces then brought 4 victims to the deck and transferred them to Ninh Thuan General Hospital, more than 30km from the scene for emergency treatment. Another victim, a cook, was still trapped inside.
Upon receiving the news, the Fire and Rescue Team of Region 6 (under the Khanh Hoa Fire and Rescue Police Department) dispatched 7 officers and soldiers to the scene to coordinate rescue.
Through reconnaissance, functional forces identified the victims trapped at the water tank (bottom compartment of the ship). This area was flooded, the air was oxygen-deprived, causing many difficulties for access and rescue work.
Functional forces have deployed pumping water and using specialized equipment to approach the scene.
By the morning of March 17, the victim's body was finally taken out.
The incident killed 3 people, including Mr. T.D. T, a mechanic and a cook; the victims were all from Nghe An. The two people taken to the emergency room were Mr. T.V. T and the captain (48 years old).
