On September 1, the leaders of the Provincial Police Detention Center announced Decision No. 1693/QD-CTN dated August 29, 2025 of the President on amnesty in 2025 (phase 2).
According to the decision, nationwide, there are 13,915 prisoners and 5 cases whose prison sentences are temporarily suspended are eligible for amnesty.
In Lang Son alone, the 34 prisoners granted amnesty this time are those who have a progressive reform process, complied with the prison's rules and regulations, and are classified as serving their sentences from quite good to better. The approval process is carried out strictly, publicly, fairly, democratically and in accordance with legal regulations.
Mr. Doan Thanh Son - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee emphasized: "Although special treatment is a lenient and profoundly humane policy of the Party and State, it shows recognition of the efforts of reformation, labor, and advanced learning of prisoners. This is also a meaningful gift on the occasion of National Day, September 2".
The leader hopes that returning citizens will make more efforts to reintegrate into the community, live responsibly with their families and society, and be worthy of the leniency they have been given.
For prisoners who are not eligible for amnesty, he suggested continuing to persevere, strive, strictly comply with regulations, actively study and work to soon have the opportunity to enjoy the State's humanitarian policies.
The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also assigned the Provincial Police to coordinate with authorities at all levels to develop plans to receive, manage, and help those granted amnesty return to their localities; pay attention to supporting jobs, guiding careers, and encouraging stable lives, minimizing recidivism.
At the same time, promote propaganda about the meaning and purpose of amnesty work to spread the leniency policies of the Party, State and the humane tradition of the nation.
On this occasion, the Provincial Police Detention Center also launched an emulation movement among prisoners. Immediately after the announcement ceremony, the prisoners granted amnesty received certificates and citizen identification cards and completed the procedures to return to reunite with their families.
