On the afternoon of July 4, Mr. Ha Van Bac - Head of Cam Lo - Dong Ha Forest Protection Department confirmed that after receiving information about monkey attacks on people, the forest rangers, along with Nghia An Prison Police, Forest Protection of Quang Tri Special Forest Management Board and people of Loc Trung village - have deployed a capture plan.
The monkey was quite aggressive, but thanks to coordinating smoothly, it was caught, however, 4 people suffered minor injuries.
The Cam Lo - Dong Ha Forest Protection Department identified the captive monkey as the pig-tailed monkey (Macaca leonina), a rare species of group IIB.
Currently, the monkey is being cared for and raised, waiting for a plan to be released back into the wild to avoid danger to the people.
Previously, as reported by Lao Dong Newspaper, at around 9:00 a.m. on July 3, B.T.N.Q. (10 years old, residing in Dak Lak province) and his relatives went out to visit Rao Vinh stream when suddenly attacked by a monkey.
The monkey was very aggressive and pushed Q down to the ground, biting him in the head and buttocks, injuring him and sending him to the hospital for treatment.
