At the first session on the afternoon of March 26, the People's Council of Lang Son province, XVIII term, 2026-2031 announced the election results with 50 delegates elected, of which 28 were ethnic minorities, accounting for 56%.
The meeting was chaired by Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Lang Son province Doan Thi Hau.
This is the opening session of the new term of the Provincial People's Council, laying the foundation for the organization of activities, promulgation of working regulations and orientation of major tasks in the 2026-2031 period.
Speaking at the opening, Ms. Doan Thi Hau said that the first session of the new term of the Provincial People's Council is of particular importance, marking the beginning of a term with many expectations, responsibilities and determination to innovate.
According to her, this is an opportunity to thoroughly grasp the policies of the Central Government and the Provincial Party Committee, and at the same time set high requirements for the spirit of responsibility, solidarity, discipline and drastic action of the entire political system.

Reporting at the meeting, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial Election Commission Tran Thanh Nhan said that the whole province has 13 electoral units, 85 candidates for the 18th Provincial People's Council. As a result, 50 delegates were elected.
The total number of voters participating in the vote is 615,175 out of a total of 615,541 voters, reaching 99.94%. The whole province has 613,050 valid votes and 2,125 invalid votes.
Among the 50 elected delegates, in addition to 28 ethnic minorities, there are also 14 female delegates, accounting for 28%; 4 young delegates, accounting for 8%; 3 non-Party delegates, accounting for 6%; 23 re-elected delegates, accounting for 46%.
Regarding professional qualifications, 41 delegates have a postgraduate degree, accounting for 82%; 7 people have a university degree, accounting for 14%; 2 people have an undergraduate degree, accounting for 4%.
At the first session, the 18th Lang Son Provincial People's Council also passed 4 important resolutions. Among them is a resolution on a number of policies to support investment in agriculture in the province in the period 2026-2030.
The remaining three resolutions focus on the organization and operation of the Provincial People's Council, including the plan to organize regular meetings in 2026, session regulations and working regulations of the 18th Provincial People's Council, term 2026-2031.
