On March 12, in Hanoi, Party Secretary of the Government, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired the Conference to announce and award the decision to appoint Mr. Tran Hong Thai - Member of the Party Central Committee, Standing Vice President of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology to hold the position of President of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology.
Presenting the decision and congratulating the new Chairman of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (Institute), the Prime Minister assessed that Mr. Tran Hong Thai always showed himself to be an exemplary and dedicated official, always completing all assigned responsibilities and tasks well.
Being assigned a new responsibility shows the great belief and expectation of the Party and State for Mr. Tran Hong Thai himself as well as for the development of the Institute in the new era.
The Head of Government emphasized the maturity, growth, and role, importance, and outstanding achievements of the Institute in building and developing the country.
Therefore, with the role of head of an agency considered as the "leading bird", the core force in the national scientific system, Mr. Tran Hong Thai himself and the Institute's leadership collective must continue to inherit and promote the glorious tradition of the unit and undertake the glorious but extremely heavy mission of bringing the Institute to develop even more strongly in the coming time.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh requested Mr. Tran Hong Thai and the Institute's leadership collective to continue to strengthen solidarity, close coordination, maintain qualities and bravery in the face of difficulties and challenges; build the Institute's Party Committee to be truly clean, strong, united, and unified; promote the spirit of democracy, strength and collective wisdom.
Mr. Tran Hong Thai and the entire Institute focused on quickly and strongly implementing and effectively implementing the Resolution of the 14th Party Congress, thematic resolutions of the Politburo in key areas, especially Resolution 57-NQ/TW on science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation.
In which, pioneering the implementation of digital transformation, green transformation, energy transformation, structural transformation and quality of human resources; focusing on mastering core technology, source technology, especially in 11 strategic technology groups with 35 strategic technology product groups; bringing the fields of mathematics, physics, chemistry, and biology to advanced regional and world levels by 2030.
The Institute must promote its role as a strategic advisory "brain" to the Party and State on science and technology in key areas such as artificial intelligence, energy, marine economy, water security, space... ; build a national database on science and technology.

Speaking to receive the assignment, Mr. Tran Hong Thai committed to continue to unite, unify, and strive to implement and excellently complete the tasks assigned by the Party, State and people.
Thereby gradually enhancing the role and position of the Institute and contributing to protecting and developing the country in the new period, in the immediate future serving the goal of growth of 10% or more in the coming time.
