Hanoi - In the afternoon of July 7, the State Audit Office of Vietnam (SAV) organized a conference to summarize the work in the first 6 months of the year and deploy tasks for the last 6 months of 2026.

Speaking at the opening of the conference, State Auditor General Nguyen Huu Nghia said that 2026 is the first year to implement the Resolution of the 14th Party Congress, the Resolution of the Party Congresses at all levels for the term 2025-2030; and also the year to put into operation the 2-level local government model and implement the State Budget Law in 2025 with many important changes.

Along with that, many major guidelines and policies of the Party and State on renovation and socio-economic development in a breakthrough and revolutionary direction are being drastically implemented, creating new motivation and momentum for rapid and sustainable development. This both opens up new requirements and puts greater pressure on the organization of task implementation of the SAV sector.

According to the SAV's report, in the first 6 months of the year, audit activities continued to be innovated to improve quality and efficiency, making an important contribution to tightening discipline and order in the management and use of public finance, public assets, practicing thrift, and combating wastefulness and negativity.

According to SAV, as of June 30, the entire sector had approved 111 audit plans, deployed 106 audit teams, concluded 56 audit teams, and officially issued 36 audit reports.

Summarizing preliminary audit results as of June 30, for 55 audit reports issued (including 19 audit reports under the supplementary audit plan for 2025 issued in 2026 and 36 audit reports under the audit plan for 2026), SAV proposed to increase revenue and reduce state budget expenditures by 10,042 billion VND, and other recommendations of 28,663 billion VND and 4,577,148 USD.

At the same time, the State Audit Office proposed to cancel, amend, and supplement some contents that are not consistent with state regulations and practice for 59 documents (including 01 Law, 02 Decrees, 03 Decisions of the Prime Minister, 06 Circulars and 47 other documents); proposed that competent functional agencies direct the organization of self-criticism and handling of collective and individual responsibilities for violations discovered through audit activities in 22 audit reports.

Notably, as of the end of June 2026, SAV has transferred 5 cases with signs of crime to the investigating agency; provided 20 audit files and reports to serve inspection, examination and investigation work. At the same time, SAV has given opinions on 499 personnel at the request of the Central Organization Committee to ensure timeliness, honesty, and objectivity regarding responsibilities related to SAV's audit conclusions and recommendations, as a basis for advising the Politburo and the Secretariat to consider and approve planning and appointment of strategic-level officials.

Specifically, the entire sector needs to continue to promote the tradition of solidarity and unity, strive to overcome difficulties and challenges; promote innovation and development of the SAV according to the SAV Development Strategy to 2030; be determined to comprehensively complete the goals and tasks of the 2026 work plan, and at the same time fully and promptly implement the tasks assigned by the Central Government, the National Assembly and the National Assembly Standing Committee with a more urgent spirit, higher quality and more practical efficiency...
