On November 26, the People's Council of An Giang province held a conference to exchange experiences in the activities of the People's Councils at both levels of the province for the 2021-2026 term.
Speaking at the conference, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nhan - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the An Giang Provincial People's Council - said: The conference is an event of special significance in the first phase of operation of the 2-level local government model.

In An Giang, the activities of the People's Councils at both levels have undergone many innovations, demonstrating a sense of responsibility and determination to adapt to the new model; however, there are still contents that need to be discussed in depth to ensure consensus on awareness and action, especially finding solutions to overcome bottlenecks arising in the early stages of operation.
"This is not only a forum for exchanging experiences, but also an opportunity to summarize the initial practical implementation of the new model; frankly point out the difficulties, limitations and inadequacies; share good practices and good models; agree on solutions to improve the quality of People's Council activities and orient the new development stage of the province. The Provincial People's Council fully absorbs recommendations and proposals from the grassroots; thereby perfecting the coordination mechanism, improving the methods of operation; better preparing for the election of National Assembly deputies and People's Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term, associated with the implementation of the province's major development goals in the coming period", Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nhan emphasized.

The conference focused on discussing 7 key groups of issues, from preparing for the session, reviewing - supervising - issuing resolutions, to meeting voters, receiving citizens, removing practical obstacles, improving the quality of questioning, ensuring delegate policies, and applying information technology in the activities of the People's Council.
According to the An Giang Provincial People's Council, the activities of the People's Councils at both levels have been fully implemented in accordance with legal regulations for the proposed programs and plans and achieved many encouraging results such as: Session preparation work has been carried out seriously and in accordance with regulations, the Standing Committee of the People's Council has closely coordinated with the People's Committee and the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province to successfully organize 5 sessions of the Provincial People's Council, 240 sessions of the People's Council at the commune level, issued 1,416 resolutions, related to the contents of socio-economics, national defense - security, budget allocation, public investment and socio-economic development. The quality of the resolution is guaranteed, the policy content closely follows the local practical situation, is feasible, and the resolution rate is approved by the majority of delegates.
Among them, there are many important resolutions such as: resolutions applying legal documents so that all policies can continue to be implemented without being congested, affecting the rights of the people after the merger or resolutions on projects serving the 2027 APEC Summit contributing to bringing the image of Phu Quoc crossing the border to the international community, creating momentum for future development.

The People's Councils at both levels have organized 111 supervision sessions, the supervision work has been implemented synchronously, increasingly in-depth and closely following local practices. The work of contacting voters and receiving citizens is maintained in a disciplined manner, in accordance with regulations. The Standing Committee of the People's Council has developed regulations, publicly announced periodic citizen meetings and processed and forwarded petitions to competent authorities for timely and appropriate consideration and resolution. In the past time, the agencies have coordinated to organize 567 meetings with voters with the participation of 34,929 voters, 3,888 opinions and recommendations, received 248 citizens, and processed 156 petitions, denunciations, reflections, and recommendations from citizens.
