According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment of An Giang province, key areas at high risk of fire are U Minh Thuong National Park, Phu Quoc National Park and melaleuca forest areas, hilly areas in the province, with a total area at high risk of fire of over 9,500 hectares.
Recorded at U Minh Thuong National Park, where there are nearly 6,000ha of forest area, mainly melaleuca forests on mud coal land, from early morning, the garden closed 6 culverts to retain water, maintaining forest humidity above 45%, contributing to reducing the risk of fires. The system of canals, ditches, and water reservoirs has been dredged and reinforced to ensure water sources are ready when necessary.
In key areas with high fire risk, the garden arranges forces, vehicles and equipment to be on duty 24/24 hours, ready to respond when forest fires occur. Pre-combustion is controlled to reduce the load of flammable materials such as dry leaves, branches, weeds...
The National Park also invests in and maintains fire fighting equipment such as pumps, specialized boats, fire hose systems; organizes professional training for local forces to ensure readiness to respond when situations occur. In particular, apply SMART software and surveillance camera systems in forest management and protection.

Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of An Giang province Le Huu Toan said: The Department of Agriculture and Environment, the Provincial Steering Committee for Fire Prevention and Fighting and Rescue, and the Provincial People's Committee have issued 15 documents directing sectors, localities, and forest owners to deploy tasks for forest management and protection and forest fire prevention and fighting in 2026. In which, forest owners must develop and organize the implementation of forest fire prevention and fighting plans; Organize propaganda and mobilize people to participate in forest protection and fire prevention and fighting. Focus on implementing forest fire prevention measures such as: Reinforcing dams, water retaining banks; plowing and clearing ground to prevent fire spread; pumping water into the forest.
For commune-level People's Committees with forests, develop plans to implement commune-level forest fire prevention and fighting tasks. Strengthen inspection, urging and supervision of forest owners units to implement forest fire prevention and fighting plans.
The Department of Agriculture and Environment also directed the Forest Protection Department to strengthen inspection and supervision of forest owners units implementing forest fire prevention and fighting plans. Organize propaganda and training on the use of fire fighting equipment for grassroots teams.
Monitor and provide warning information about the risk of forest fires to localities and forest owners units to know to proactively implement forest fire prevention measures (when forest fires are forecast from level III - which is a high level, with the possibility of forest fires easily occurring to level V - which is an extremely dangerous level, with the possibility of large fires and rapid fire spread).
Be ready with forces, equipment, and vehicles to respond to forest fires. Coordinate with the Police force to advise on mobilizing forces and vehicles to fight forest fires beyond the control of local forces.

Organize forest fire fighting drills, arrange appropriate forces, vehicles, and equipment for each key area, ensure 24/24 hour on-duty forces; promptly detect and deploy forces to extinguish newly arising fires, to prevent large and serious forest fires, especially on holidays and at night," Mr. Toan emphasized.
