Statistics from Bac Kan province show that there are currently 1,292 villages and residential groups in the area. However, only 19 villages and residential groups meet the standards set by regulations (villages with 150 households or more, groups with 200 households or more), and 929 villages and residential groups meet less than 50% of the standards.
In addition to 219 villages and groups that are subject to merger but have not been implemented due to special factors, Bac Kan province has decided to arrange and merge 798 units to establish 381 villages and groups in all 8 districts and cities in 2024.
This is directed and implemented uniformly and synchronously from the province to the grassroots level, ensuring consensus and unanimity of voters representing households in the areas where villages and residential groups are merged and renamed.
The majority of people in the villages and residential groups subject to the merger highly agreed, only a few villages had to get people's opinions a second time.
