As reported by Lao Dong Newspaper, from the end of March 2025 to present, in Kim Lu commune (Na Ri, Bac Kan), 7 sinkholes have appeared, directly threatening the lives and property of people in the area.
Faced with the increasing trend of subsidence, on May 14, Mr. Nong Quang Nhat - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Bac Kan province signed a decision to declare a natural disaster emergency for the above phenomenon.
The declaration of an emergency situation aims to deploy timely measures to ensure the safety of the people.
The Provincial People's Committee requests the use of soil, stone, and concrete to fill the sinkholes; closely monitor developments in the field; proactively evacuate people when necessary and arrange temporary accommodation and necessary logistics conditions.
The cause of the subsidence has not yet been determined. Based on the initial assessment, Bac Kan province is coordinating with the Institute of Geological Sciences and Mineral Resources to develop a project to investigate the cause and deploy long-term solutions.
