Bac Lieu - Growth in the first quarter was only over 6% while the whole year target was 9%, the province sought many measures to promote growth.

Low public investment disbursement

The Department of Finance of Bac Lieu Province said that in the first quarter of 2025, the province's economy still had a series of difficulties and challenges and has not created breakthroughs to contribute to growth such as: The growth rate of total product in the province increased by 6.39% (failing to achieve the growth target in the first quarter of 6.5%); Industrial and construction sector only reached 96.59% over the same period; Wind power plants participated in AGC system, limiting the ability to transmit to the grid so the electricity output decreased sharply (commercial electricity decreased by 4.2%, wind power decreased by 21.42%, solar power fell 7.4%over the same period); The disbursement rate of public investment capital is low, reaching 9.19%... Bac Lieu has not attracted new investment projects in the area ...

Entering April 2025, the economy has improved a bit; industries and fields have developed and increased quite well compared to the same period such as: seafood output increased by 6.87%, total retail sales of goods and service revenue increased by 8.25%...

In particular, the progress of public investment disbursement is low compared to the assigned plan and the plan to implement the province's 9% economic growth scenario.

The reason for the low disbursement is that some projects to renovate and repair offices of agencies and units have stopped implementation in the investment preparation stage due to the implementation of the project to continue to reorganize and streamline the apparatus, leading to not allocating capital plans. The merger of departments and branches leads to changes in investors, causing slow disbursement procedures, payment and settlement work being interrupted...

Growth determination 9%

To solve current difficulties and determination to grow by 9% as registered with the Government, the People's Committee of Bac Lieu province directs sectors and localities to urgently and resolutely carry out well the tasks and goals of socio-economic development.

In particular, continuing to focus on key tasks such as promoting the restructuring of the economy, renewing the growth model to 2025 and orientation to 2030; Restructuring manufacturing and services in the direction of modernity, improving productivity, quality and efficiency. Promote strong development of digital economy, digital, green economy, circulating economy, e -commerce, new and effective business models. Strengthen mobilization and effectively use all resources for socio -economic development.
