Early in the morning of January 11, a thin layer of ice appeared on the top of Phia Oac, Nguyen Binh district, Cao Bang province. According to information from an officer working at the FM broadcasting station of the Voice of Vietnam (VOV) on the top of Phia Oac, this layer of ice began to form early in the morning and gradually melted around 9-10 am the same day.
"A thin layer of ice appeared early this morning (January 11), and melted completely around 9-10 am. The temperature when the ice appeared was around -3 degrees Celsius," the officer said.
Some images recorded at the scene show ice clinging to tall tree branches and some bushes along the road, creating a fascinating natural scene in the middle of a harsh winter.
Phia Oac, with an altitude of 1,931 meters above sea level, is considered the "roof" of the western part of Cao Bang province. This is one of the places with a special climate, often recording frost and sometimes snow in winter.
According to forecasts, in the coming days, temperatures in the Cao Bang area may continue to drop sharply, leading to the risk of more frost in the highlands.
Faced with this situation, authorities have issued recommendations and called on people to proactively take measures to protect crops and livestock to limit damage caused by extreme weather.
