Noi Bai International Airport has sent a document to the Civil Aviation Authority regarding information reflecting that a package of bread at this airport costs 208,000 VND.
Regarding the press report that a package of bread at the airport costing 7.9 USD (about 208,000 VND) on July 10, Noi Bai International Airport coordinated with the Northern Airport Authority to verify the incident.
According to Noi Bai Airport: "This product belongs to a Bigbowl store in the isolation area of the 3rd floor of Terminal T2, a famous brand store at major airports in Vietnam and has been registered for trademark protection at the Intellectual Property Office.
The specific product is chopped pork bread using pork ingredients imported from Brazil, weighing about 200 grams. The product prices are fully listed, publicly and easily recognizable at the counter by the store in accordance with current regulations.
In addition to the above product, the store also provides other types of bread with prices from 2.1 USD or more to serve the diverse consumption needs of passengers" - the document of Noi Bai International Airport stated.
According to this unit, at terminal T2, there are currently 24 stalls operating in food and beverage services with a variety of products and services from essential goods according to regulations (istarchy bread, bread without additional food...) to products to meet customer needs (fruits, bread, cakes, rice...).
The selling price of products and services is publicly listed from 20,000 VND in public areas and from 1.5 USD/product in quarantine areas. Non- aviation service providers at the port all comply with State regulations on essential goods, ensure service quality on the origin and source of goods, and at the same time, make full, public and transparent price listings according to regulations.
"Noi Bai International Airport is committed to always complying with legal regulations in management, exploitation and provision of services at the port to ensure the quality of service for passengers," the document stated.
Previously, Lao Dong Newspaper reported that the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam requested units to report the 208,000 VND banh mi case at Noi Bai airport.
The Civil Aviation Authority requires 3 units to have the following contents:
For Noi Bai International Airport: Pursuant to Clause 1, Article 68, it is stipulated that "A airport enterprises decide to lease premises to organizations and individuals under their management and use rights to provide aviation and non- aviation services according to regulations".
Accordingly, this unit needs to coordinate with the Northern Airport Authority to verify and clarify the contents reported by the Newspaper.
Check compliance with the provisions of Clause 5, Article 70 of Decree 05/2021/ND-CP of the Government on management and exploitation of airports (Decree 05/2021/ND-CP) of organizations and individuals providing non- airline services at passenger terminals.
Timely correct inadequacies that affect service quality and legitimate rights of customers.
The Civil Aviation Authority also requested the Vietnam Airports Corporation - JSC to strengthen the direction of non- aviation service provision at airports.
Review the prices of goods and services, especially food and beverage services, to ensure that the selling price is commensurate with the quality and not too high compared to the general level of goods and services of the same type.
Timely correct any inadequacies that affect the quality of service provision at the passenger terminal and the legitimate rights of customers. Publicly post prices, ensuring civilization, politeness, and thoughtfulness.
For the Northern Airports Authority, the Civil Aviation Authority requests, presides over and coordinates with Noi Bai International Airport to verify and clarify the contents reported by the press; strictly handle organizations and individuals with violations (if any) according to regulations.
Strengthen inspection, supervision, reception of customer feedback and recommendations, preside over the handling of feedback and recommendations under the responsibility of the Airport Authority as stipulated in Clause 4, Clause 8, Article 9, Clause 4, Article 70 of Decree 05/2021/ND-CP dated January 25, 2021.
