The Department of Dyke Management and Natural Disaster Prevention (Ministry of Agriculture and Environment) said that according to reports from Lao Cai, Son La, Phu Tho, Tuyen Quang, Lang Son, Cao Bang, Thai Nguyen, Bac Ninh, Quang Ninh, Hai Phong, Hung Yen, Ninh Binh, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Tri, Thua Thien - Hue and Da Nang localities, as of 5:00 p.m. on October 1, storm No. 10 along with floods, landslides, and thunderstorms has caused serious damage in many areas.
Regarding people, there have been 54 deaths and missing people, of which 34 people died in many provinces and cities, including Lao Cai 3 people, Cao Bang 2 people, Tuyen Quang 1 person, Son La 1 person, Lang Son 2 people, Thai Nguyen 1 person, Hung Yen 2 people, Ninh Binh 9 people, Thanh Hoa 5 people, Nghe An 1 person, Ha Tinh 1 person, Quang Tri 4 people on the BV92754 ship in Cua Gianh, Hue 1 person and Da Nang 1 person.
In addition, there are 20 people missing, including Lao Cai 4, Cao Bang 3, Tuyen Quang 4, Son La 1 and Quang Tri with 8 people on 2 ships in Cua Viet, Cua Gianh and other cases swept away by floodwaters. In addition, 140 people were injured in many localities, including 17 in Ha Tinh, 11 in Nghe An, and 50 in Ninh Binh.
Regarding housing, 153 houses collapsed, concentrated in Nghe An with 53 houses, Thanh Hoa with 26 houses and Lao Cai with 24 houses. In addition, 154,565 houses were damaged and had their roofs blown off, the most serious of which were Ha Tinh with nearly 94,000 houses and Nghe An with more than 50,000 houses.
Regarding agriculture, 48,714 hectares of rice and crops were flooded and damaged. Nghe An alone has 11,536 hectares, Thanh Hoa 10,566 hectares and Hanoi nearly 5,800 hectares.
In livestock farming, 1,524 cattle and 381,567 poultry died and were swept away.
For dykes, 25 incidents were recorded in seven localities, the most in Thanh Hoa with 12 incidents, followed by Nghe An and Ha Tinh with 4 incidents each.
Regarding seafood, 13,334 hectares were damaged, most concentrated in Nghe An with 7,196 hectares and Thanh Hoa with 3,781 hectares.
Regarding education, 1,130 schools were affected, of which Nghe An had 480 points and Ha Tinh had 427 points.
Flooding, landslides, and traffic congestion occurred at 3,035 points on many routes. In addition, 20,022m of embankments, river banks, and beaches were eroded, the most severe in Thua Thien - Hue with nearly 16 km.
In the electricity sector, 8,294 power poles were broken, concentrated in Thanh Hoa, Nghe An and Ha Tinh. Nearly 2.7 million customers lost power, of which only 1.93 million were restored, and there are currently more than 774,000 customers continuing to be repaired.
Regarding telecommunications, 268 out of 722 communes lost connection to the specialized data transmission network, more than 1,100 out of 8,879 BTS stations were out of contact.
In addition, 63,608 trees were broken, the most in Thanh Hoa, Nghe An and Quang Tri.
Total preliminary economic damage in some provinces reached VND 8,780 billion, of which Ha Tinh suffered the largest damage with about VND 6,000 billion, followed by Nghe An VND 1,627 billion. Currently, localities are continuing to review, count and urgently overcome the consequences.
