Nearly 60,000 hectares of rice and crops have not been harvested
On the morning of August 25, the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Da Nang City said that by 6:00 a.m. the same day, the response to storm No. 5 (Kajiki) continued to be vigorously implemented, in the context that many agricultural production areas had not yet been harvested and were at risk of being affected.
According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, at 9:00 a.m. on August 25, the center of storm No. 5 was at about 18.4 degrees North latitude; 107.0 degrees East longitude, about 140km East Southeast of Nghe An, about 120km East of Ha Tinh, about 140km East Northeast of Bac Quang Tri.
It is forecasted that today and tonight, the storm will enter coastal waters and cause strong winds and heavy rain. In localities at the edge of the storm, there is a possibility of heavy rain, beware of landslides in mountainous areas and flooding in low-lying areas...

Worryingly, Da Nang's Summer-Autumn Festival 2025 has more than 43,600 hectares of rice, of which more than 39,400 hectares are in the flowering stage, and has only harvested 215 hectares. In addition, more than 20,900 hectares of vegetables such as corn, sweet potatoes, cassava, peanuts, sesame... are in the development period.
In particular, many fields have just been replanted after the flood in June, now the risk of flooding and damage continues to make farmers worried.

Mr. Nguyen Van Hoa, a farmer in Quang Phu ward, Da Nang, shared: This summer, my family sowed again after the flood in June. Now that the new rice has just sprouted and the storm has returned, the biggest concern is the rising water causing flooding and damage."
The area of aquaculture is also up to 3,110 hectares of ponds and about 4,630 cages, including nearly 1,000 hectares and 1,400 cages about to be harvested, all of which are at risk of being greatly affected if the storm causes heavy rain and high tides.

Da Nang has no more ships in the storm area
Meanwhile, at sea, the whole city has 4,148 fishing vessels with more than 21,000 workers. As of 5am this morning, there were only 107 ships with 1,690 workers operating in remote waters, mainly in Hoang Sa and Truong Sa. The city's Border Guard has maintained regular contact, requiring ships to urgently move out of the danger zone. Currently, there are no more ships in the storm area, more than 4,000 ships have anchored safely in Da Nang and neighboring provinces.

Fisherman Tran Van Luc, captain of fishing boat QNa 91234, said: Last night, after receiving a notice from the border, my boat quickly anchored at Tho Quang fishing port. Thanks to the careful guidance on the props, the brothers on the ship were very assured.
The Da Nang Border Guard has also set off fireworks to warn of storms, coordinated with localities to anchor ships, and banned sea travel from August 24. The work of protecting shelters and reviewing areas at risk of landslides and flooding has been strictly implemented.
Thus, up to this point, Da Nang has basically ensured the safety of fishermen and boats. However, tens of thousands of hectares of rice and vegetables are in the growth stage, causing farmers to anxiously wait to overcome storm No. 5.
