On January 16, at the People's Committee of An Thoi Ward, Binh Thuy District, Can Tho City, the authorities paid the money affected by the Project to Upgrade and Expand National Highway 91 (Km0 - Km7) to 64 households, with a total amount of more than 274 billion VND.
Mr. Duong Khuong Thao - Chairman of the People's Committee of An Thoi Ward (Binh Thuy District) - said that there were 20 organizations and 91 households affected in the area. The locality has completed legal procedures for each case and paid to 13 households.
The Chairman of the People's Committee of An Thoi Ward said that with the policy of implementing the Project to Upgrade and Expand National Highway 91 (Km0 - Km7), most households agreed and highly agreed with this project, because they had been waiting for it for a long time.
“After implementing and paying today, we see that people are very excited and agree. Regarding the responsibility of the locality, we will make efforts to propagate, mobilize and have a plan to implement on schedule, ensuring to serve the living needs of people in the ward,” said Mr. Duong Khuong Thao.
As a household affected by the project, Mr. Ho Viet Trung (area 5, Bui Huu Nghia ward, Binh Thuy district) said that his family was only affected by the land area in front of the house and the garden. Before building the house, his family had been informed about the project so they proactively built inside to minimize the impact when the project was implemented.
“When the government announced and applied the compensation price, my family was very satisfied and supportive, because when the project is completed, the roads will be more open, convenient for people to travel, transport goods and trade. Moreover, this is an important project that contributes to promoting the city's socio-economic development,” Mr. Viet Trung happily said.
Mr. Nguyen Minh Triet - a resident of An Thoi Ward, Binh Thuy District - shared his excitement when National Highway 91 was upgraded. According to Mr. Triet, the road was previously narrow and crowded, making it difficult to travel. The National Highway 91 Upgrading and Expansion Project (Km0 - Km7) will help vehicles move easily, overcoming traffic jams and flooding.
Speaking to Lao Dong Newspaper at the place where the money was paid to the households, Mr. Truong Thanh Dat - Deputy Director of the Land Fund Development Center of Can Tho City - informed that the unit had advised the council to submit to the People's Committee of Ninh Kieu District and the People's Committee of Binh Thuy District for approval for the households. The total budget of the two districts to pay to the people in this period is about 410 billion VND. Of which, Ninh Kieu District approved 37 households with the amount of more than 126 billion VND; Binh Thuy District approved 64 households with the amount of about 274 billion VND.
"Currently, the Center has inventoried 100% of households. It will soon be approved by the council and continue to submit according to the approved budget. It is expected that by April 20, 2025, the project will complete the infrastructure," Mr. Dat added.
According to the Can Tho City Land Fund Development Center, the total planned land area is about 27.25 hectares. The total number of households, individuals and organizations affected is about 1,066 cases. The need for resettlement is about 300 plots. The total cost of site clearance is about 5,556 billion VND.
The Project to Upgrade and Expand National Highway 91 (section from Km0 - Km7), Can Tho City is a Group A project, a level 1 road traffic project, with implementation period from 2023 - 2027 with a total investment of nearly 7,238 billion VND. The overall goal of the project is to complete the traffic infrastructure, striving to build Can Tho into a modern and civilized city, basically becoming an industrial city.
