According to this report, currently, the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Ben Tre province is implementing the "Project to relocate households and residential areas to ensure safe environmental distance for solid waste incineration plants for power generation and waste treatment areas of Chau Thanh district", to support investors to promptly complete environmental protection procedures under the licensing authority of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment.
In addition, the Department of Agriculture and Environment is coordinating with the People's Committee of Chau Thanh district to carry out site clearance for an expanded land area of 3.24 hectares to implement the project of a solid waste incineration plant for power generation.
In addition, the Department of Construction of Ben Tre province is currently appraising the Master Plan of the solid waste incineration plant project (the public consultation has been completed and the planning documents are being appraised).
According to the project schedule approved by the Provincial People's Committee, the project is expected to start construction in the third quarter of 2025 and start receiving and treating waste from the fourth quarter of 2026. Currently, the investor is coordinating with provincial departments and branches to urgently complete related investment procedures, ensuring the progress of the solid waste incineration plant project to generate electricity.

According to the reporter's investigation, there are currently 5 landfills in operation in Ben Tre province, including Chau Binh landfill, An Thanh landfill, Cho Lach town landfill, Binh Dai town landfill and Ba Tri landfill.
Specifically, Chau Binh landfill (Giong Trom district) receives and processes about 30 tons of waste/day. An Thanh landfill (Mo Cay Nam district) receives and processes about 40 tons/day.
Cho Lach town landfill receives and processes about 25-30 tons/day. Binh Dai town landfill receives and processes about 40 tons/day.
Ba Tri landfill (Ba Tri district) receives and processes waste from localities: Ba Tri, Chau Thanh and Ben Tre city, with a volume of about 200-220 tons/day.
In addition, there are 2 centralized waste treatment plants in the province, including the Thanh Phu District Waste Treatment Plant and the Ben Tre Waste Treatment Plant.
In particular, the Thanh Phu District Waste Treatment Plant (invested by Rong Xanh Environmental Services and Trading Company Limited) has a treatment capacity of 100 tons/day. Processing technology includes classification, organic fertilizer cultivation and incineration. The plant has basically completed the investment according to the designed capacity and is currently operating a trial according to regulations.
Ben Tre Waste Treatment Plant (invested by Ben Tre Waste Treatment Joint Stock Company) is implementing a restructuring and reinvestment plan, converting it into a solid waste incineration plant for power generation.
