Reporting at the meeting on the afternoon of March 10, the Steering Committee for Eliminating Temporary and Dilapidated Houses in Kien Giang Province said that the goal is that by the end of 2025, the province will support the construction of 2,314 new houses and repair 485 houses. The total estimated construction cost is more than 153 billion VND, of which the cost of new construction is 60 million VND/unit, repair is 30 million VND/unit.
The Provincial "For the Poor" Fund Mobilization Committee has received more than 101 billion VND; started construction of 920/2,314 new units, reaching 39.76% (of which 335 units have been completed and handed over, put into use, reaching 36.4%). Started the repair of 326/485 apartments, reaching 67.22% (of which 28 apartments have been completed and handed over, put into use, reaching 8.5%).
The whole province has 4 localities that have completed and handed over the number of houses that need to be newly built: Giong Rieng (29 houses), An Bien (69 houses), Giang Thanh (10 houses) and Ha Tien (3 houses).
For localities assigned to be autonomous in implementation costs: Rach Gia City has started construction of 12 new houses and repaired 3 houses; Phu Quoc City has started repair of 5 houses; Ha Tien City has started construction of 3 new houses and repaired 9 houses.
The Provincial Police have coordinated to participate in starting construction of 75/600 apartments, with 450 working days. The Provincial Military Command has coordinated to start construction of 138/400 units, participating in 853 working days.
The houses built in the program will ensure "3 hard" which are: hard foundation - foundation, hard frame - wall and hard roof, thereby ensuring that people have a new, more spacious house, can confidently develop the economy, and escape poverty.
Kien Giang Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Tien Hai requested localities to direct each commune, determine the conditions and circumstances of each family to have a specific way to organize the construction and repair of new houses; specifically assign agencies, organizations and unions to support the construction of houses for people; clearly register the implementation time and completion of each house; have a plan to find centralized construction materials to save costs, reduce transportation fees, and ensure on-clock progress.
Mr. Hai noted that repair and construction workers must have separate toilets to ensure hygiene for people; take advantage of construction during the dry season.
