Binh Dinh - Regarding storm prevention work for Tra Mi, the Chairman of Binh Dinh province requested units and localities to activate the highest level storm prevention plan.

On October 25, the People's Committee of Binh Dinh province announced that Chairman of the People's Committee of Binh Dinh province Pham Anh Tuan had just chaired an online conference to deploy proactive measures to respond to storm Tra Mi.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, on the afternoon of October 24, storm Tra Mi crossed the central Philippines into the East Sea, becoming the 6th storm of the year, with a strong intensity of level 9, gusting to level 11. And this is a storm that is assessed to have an unusual trajectory.

According to the Binh Dinh Province Hydrometeorological Station, the storm has not yet had a clear impact on the mainland of Vietnam. According to the forecast, Binh Dinh may experience rain from October 27 to 28, with rainfall ranging from 60 to 100mm, with some places over 120mm.

Regarding the situation of ships, the whole province has 5,656 ships with 39,816 workers operating inshore in the province and anchored at ports; 583 ships with 3,857 workers operating offshore.

The Border Guard Command of Binh Dinh Province, the Fisheries Branch, the Quy Nhon Coastal Information Station, and coastal localities have contacted the boat owner's family to inform vessels operating at sea to obtain information about the storm to avoid it. As of the afternoon of October 24, no fishing boats from Binh Dinh were in the danger zone.

Regarding reservoirs, the province has 164 reservoirs, the current water capacity in the reservoirs is 180.3/683 million m3, reaching 26.4% of the design capacity. The reservoirs basically ensure safety during heavy rains.

At the meeting, Chairman of Binh Dinh Provincial People's Committee Pham Anh Tuan warned the leaders of departments, branches and localities about the severity of the current natural disasters.

At the same time, request the Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention - Search and Rescue and Civil Defense, units and localities to activate the Tra Mi storm prevention plan corresponding to the level 4 storm prevention plan, the highest level in flood and storm prevention in the province.

In areas at risk of landslides, local authorities proactively evacuate people to safe places before the storm hits. Proactively trim trees and remove signs and advertisements that are at risk of being blown away by storm winds in urban areas.

Departments and investors review construction works, deploy measures to ensure safety for works and construction workers, organize the dismantling of service roads, and clear water flows to drain water.

The transport sector conducts a general inspection of bridges and culverts, promptly warns or prohibits people and vehicles from passing through degraded or damaged bridges. The electricity sector reviews the system to ensure continuous and safe power supply.

"Local agencies and units implement the "4 on-site" motto (logistics, equipment, command and forces) in natural disaster prevention. Military forces, police, and military regions proactively ensure human resources, means, and connect with localities to be ready to participate in timely support, rescue, and relief. Agencies, units, and localities organize forces to be on duty 24/7 when there are storms.

The Department of Information and Communications will broadcast on commune radio stations twice a day, promptly informing people about the developments and intensity of storm Tra Mi, so that people can proactively take response measures," Mr. Pham Anh Tuan requested.
