On the afternoon of September 30, the leader of Cua Lo ward (Nghe An) confirmed that a tragic incident had just occurred in the area that caused the death of a father and son.
According to initial information, at around 11am the same day, people discovered Mr. N.V.T (born in 1991) and his son (born in 2018), residing in Thu Thu Thuy 2 block, unconscious in the house. Although they were taken to the emergency room, both of them did not survive.
The initial cause was believed to be suffocation when the family used a generator in the house due to a power outage after storm No. 10.
The authorities are investigating and clarifying the incident.
As of 1:00 p.m. on September 30, storm No. 10 made landfall in Nghe An, killing 1 person and injuring 11 others, causing economic losses of more than VND1,400 billion.
Authorities recommend that people absolutely do not place or operate generators in closed spaces, especially when sleeping overnight. CO air from generators can cause suffocation, endangering life. The machine needs to be placed in an airy place, away from the living area to ensure safety.
