On April 27, the People's Committee of Binh Dinh province submitted a document to the Provincial Party Committee on adjusting the plan and names of some commune-level administrative units.
According to the submission, 7 districts, including: Phu Cat, Phu My, Tuy Phuoc, Tay Son, Hoai An, Van Canh, Vinh Thanh and Hoai Nhon town have sent reports requesting adjustments to the new plans and names for communes and wards.
Many localities have proposed new names bearing a strong cultural and historical imprint, recalling memories and inheriting the characteristics of each land.
In Hoai Nhon town, the adjustment plan includes wards such as: Bong Son, Hoai Nhon Nam, Hoai Nhon Dong, Hoai Nhon Tay, Hoai Nhon Bac, Hoai Nhon, Tam Quan.

In Hoai An district, the adjustment plan includes communes such as: Hoai An, An Tuong, Kim Son, Van Duc, An Hao.
In Phu Cat district, the adjustment plan includes communes such as: Phu Cat, Xuan An, Ngo May, Cat Tien, De Gi, Hoa Hoi, Hoi Son.
In Phu My district, the adjustment plan includes communes such as: Phu My, Phu My Tay, Phu My Nam, Phu My Dong, Phu My Bac, An Luong, Binh Duong.

In Vinh Thanh district, the adjustment plan includes communes such as: Vinh Thanh, Vinh Thinh, Vinh Quang, Vinh Son.
In Tay Son district, communes are proposed to be renamed as: Tay Son, Binh Khe, Binh Phu, Binh Hiep, Binh An. In particular, Binh Khe commune (merged from the two communes of Tay Giang and Tay Thuan) recalls the place where Mr. Nguyen Sinh Sac - the father of President Ho Chi Minh - was a tri of Binh Khe district, associated with the event of Nguyen Tat Thanh visiting his father on his journey to find a way to save the country.
Previously, on April 21, the Provincial People's Committee submitted a plan to reorganize new commune-level administrative units, in which many localities used the method of naming by order (such as Hoai Nhon 1, 2,... 7; Phu Cat 1, 2,... 7). However, after reviewing, by April 26, the localities had proposed a new naming plan, which was both suitable and rich in historical and cultural significance.
The adjustment of the name this time received consensus and high appreciation from the Provincial Party Committee.
Standing Deputy Secretary of the Binh Dinh Provincial Party Committee Le Kim Toan emphasized that the new names are both easy to remember and rich in history, contributing to creating cohesion in the community. He suggested that localities step up propaganda so that people and tourists clearly understand the meaning of the new names.
Put your name... don't let the next generation blame you!
At the Provincial Party Executive Committee Conference (unusual session) held on the afternoon of April 21, Binh Dinh Provincial Party Secretary Ho Quoc Dung suggested that local Secretaries carefully consider naming the new names, because this is a responsibility to history.
"A thousand years later, the names are still associated with the localities. Therefore, the Secretaries sitting here are responsible for history, I hope you will find the best solution, so that the people can agree and support.
As for naming, I suggest that comrades take time to think and consult experts and former leaders, what is the best way to do it, so that in the future, children and grandchildren will not blame their ancestors - why did they name them like that in the past? Now it is considered normal, but a few decades later, history will leave behind, and our children and grandchildren will have opinions, so we must be very careful in naming them," said Mr. Ho Quoc Dung.
