On August 19, in Khai Long hamlet, Dat Mui commune, Ca Mau province, comrade Phan Van Giang - Politburo member, Minister of National Defense - attended the groundbreaking ceremony of the Ca Mau - Cai Nuoc - Dat Mui expressway project, the traffic route to Hon Khoai island and Hon Khoai expressway.
At this meeting point, along with Comrade Phan Van Giang, there were leaders and former leaders of the Party and State and a large number of people.
The Ca Mau - Dat Mui Expressway is nearly 93 km long, an important driving force project, forming a strategic traffic axis from the center of Ca Mau province to the extreme south.
The expressway is divided into two sections: Ca Mau - Cai Nuoc section (about 42 km long); Cai Nuoc - Dat Mui section (about 50 km long), meeting the standards of a type A expressway, with 4 lanes, and an emergency lane. The roadbed is 24.75m wide, expected to be completed in the 2025 - 2028 period.
The Hon Khoai Dual-use General Port Project is built in Dat Mui Commune with a scale of 1 1,000 m long wharf, with a capacity of 20 million tons/year, and can receive ships of up to 250,000 DWT. The total investment of Hon Khoai Port is expected to be about 15,000 billion VND.
In order to synchronize with Hon Khoai Dual-use General Port, the Transport Road Project to Hon Khoai Island (a road connecting from the mainland to Hon Khoai Port) will be invested in construction with a total investment of about VND 25,715 billion, a design scale of 4 lanes according to the standards of a level 3 plain road, a design speed of 80 km/h, a road width of 16.5 m.
