Ready for the groundbreaking ceremony
Mr. Pham Thanh Lam - Director of Ca Mau Airport - said that by the end of July, the unit coordinated with the Land Fund Development Center of Ca Mau province and the People's Committee of Tan Thanh ward to organize the handover of the final site, serving the implementation of the project to upgrade and expand Ca Mau Airport.
The project to upgrade and expand Ca Mau Airport has been approved by the Prime Minister in principle for investment under Decision No. 1188/QD-TTg dated October 15, 2024, with the goal of serving the operation of A320, A321 and equivalent aircraft. Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV) is the investor, using legal capital, with a total investment of about VND 2,400 billion.

The expansion of investment aims to meet the increasing demand for passenger and cargo transportation, while promoting socio-economic development, tourism and attracting investment in the Mekong Delta region.
Regarding technical infrastructure, the aircraft parking lot for the period 2021 - 2030 is planned to be located south of the runway, meeting about 4 parking locations. By 2050, the airport will be expanded to the North, synchronized with the new civil aviation area, to accommodate about 10 parking locations, and have a reserve land fund to expand when necessary.
The existing passenger terminal will be expanded in the period up to 2030, ensuring the capacity to serve 1 million passengers/year. Regarding goods, in the period of 2021 - 2030, a warehouse will be planned to the west of the terminal, near the existing aircraft parking lot, with a capacity of about 1,000 tons/year.
Ca Mau airport is expected to become a strategic connection point in the aviation network of the Mekong Delta and the whole country.
Big project, people agree, officials are determined
To have a clean site handed over on schedule, it requires great consensus from households and efforts in propaganda work of authorities at all levels, especially grassroots authorities, so that people clearly understand the importance of the project, ensuring the project is started on schedule.
Mr. Lam Bao Xuyen - Vice Chairman of Tan Thanh Ward People's Committee, Ca Mau Province - said: Immediately after the Project was approved, the People's Committee of Ward 6, Tan Thanh Ward (formerly), now Tan Thanh Ward (new Ca Mau Province) has developed a plan to closely coordinate with the Land Fund Development Center of Ca Mau Province to organize information and propaganda so that people clearly understand the importance and significance of the project in the socio-economic development of the locality.

The Ward People's Committee established many working groups including ward cadres, unions and hamlet cadres to coordinate with compensation units and the city's specialized agencies to closely monitor each area, each group of households and individuals affected to mobilize, propagate and explain.
Thanks to the persistent, transparent approach, listening and handling problems, affected people have had a very high consensus, the site clearance and handover of clean land have been achieved on schedule.
Mr. Pham Thua Liet in Hamlet 15, Tan Thanh Ward shared: When hearing the policy of upgrading and expanding the airport, local people were very in agreement and were ready to hand over the site according to the set schedule and plan.
Mr. Liet confided: "The airport will be expanded and upgraded larger, making it easier for people to travel, and more investors will come here... Ca Mau will develop more, everyone is happy. I was affected, giving up land to the state to do big things, doing things that benefit the people, and suffering a little bit."

Vice Chairman of Ca Mau Provincial People's Committee Lam Van Bi said: Ca Mau determined that the project to upgrade and expand Ca Mau Airport is very important because after completion and putting it into history, Ca Mau Airport will reach level 4C, exploiting Airbus 320, 321 and equivalent ships. This is a condition for a very quick trade connection, shortening the distance between Ca Mau province and localities across the country. Especially major economic centers such as Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang and other localities. This is a method of transportation to shorten transportation time and connect trade very effectively.
At the same time, Ca Mau province also determined that the project to upgrade and expand Ca Mau airport to level 4C will be a boost in developing synchronous transport infrastructure to attract tourists and traders of Ca Mau to go to different places as well as places to Ca Mau.
