On August 15, the People's Committee of Buon Ma Thuot Ward (Dak Lak Province) informed that the unit is preparing related contents to submit to the Ward People's Council for decision on converting villages and renaming residential groups in the area according to regulations.
After the merger, Buon Ma Thuot ward has an area of 71.99 km2, population of nearly 170,000 people. The ward has 89 residential groups, villages and hamlets (3 villages, 5 hamlets, 81 residential groups).
Through comparison with the Circular of the Ministry of Home Affairs on guiding the organization and operation of villages and residential groups, it is stipulated that: The names of villages and residential groups established by new or merged cannot overlap with the names of existing villages and residential groups in the same commune-level administrative unit.
Since then, Buon Ma Thuot ward has reviewed that 74 residential groups with the same name need to be renamed and 7 residential groups need to be renamed to suit local characteristics, making it convenient for management.
In addition, 3 villages in Buon Ma Thuot ward must be converted into residential groups. It is expected to name the two residential groups Cu Ebur, Cu Ebur residential group 3, and Cu Ebur residential group 8.
In particular, 5 hamlets in Buon Ma Thuot ward, including: Buon Akŏ Dhang, buon Dong, buon KDai, buon A Bong and buon Da Prong, will keep their names.
Thus, after converting the village and renaming the residential group, Buon Ma Thuot ward will have 89 hamlets and residential groups (5 hamlets, 84 residential groups).
According to the plan of the People's Committee of Buon Ma Thuot Ward, changing the name of the residential group must comply with the provisions of the law on naming place names, and must not be named contrary to traditional customs and ethics.
The name of the residential group must be concise, easy to pronounce, in accordance with local customs and practices and reflect cultural and historical values.
