On June 6, news from the Hoa Thang Ward People's Committee said that they had coordinated with people to organize burial according to local customs for a whale.
On June 5, a whale about 3m long drifted ashore in Le Cam village.
Immediately after the discovery, many local people quickly supported and tried to push the fish back to the sea. However, despite being taken offshore many times, the fish continued to be washed ashore by waves in a state of many wounds on its body.
According to the leader of Hoa Thang Ward People's Committee, local people took turns taking care of the whale, bringing it ashore to treat the injuries, and continuously watering it to maintain life. However, by dawn on June 6, the whale gradually weakened and died.
Previously, in November 2025, people in Nuoc Ngot village, Nam Cam Ranh commune, Khanh Hoa province also brought a goby to Ong's mausoleum in the village to prepare for the funeral.
According to local people, on the morning of November 12, 2025, "ca ong" fish appeared in the area near the shore. Some fishermen helped the fish away, but the next morning, the fish continued to be washed ashore by waves and could not swim on their own, only drifting along the water.
Faced with this situation, people decided to bring the fish back to Lang Ong to watch over it. The Ong fish is more than 2m long and weighs over 100kg.
For a long time, coastal Vietnamese fishermen have considered the "ca ong" fish as a god to protect and help them when encountering disasters at sea. Therefore, when they discover "ca ong" fish drifting ashore, people often find ways to rescue them. If the fish die, fishermen will organize solemn burials according to local customs.
