On the morning of May 20, in Muong Lan commune, Dien Bien Provincial People's Committee held a groundbreaking ceremony for component project 1 of the Son La - Dien Bien - Tay Trang Border Gate expressway section investment project (phase 1).
The project has a total investment of more than 23,252 billion VND, of which the central budget supports 21,828 billion VND, and the rest is counterpart capital from the local budget.
The project is implemented in the period 2026 - 2030 and is divided into 2 component projects: Compensation, support, resettlement, site clearance; investment in building the main route.
To realize the policy of "Resettlement must go one step ahead", Dien Bien prioritizes the implementation of component project 1 (with a total investment of 1,424 billion VND), implemented in the period 2026 - 2028, focusing on compensation, support, resettlement and site clearance with a total recovered land area of about 776.29 ha.
The Son La - Dien Bien - Tay Trang Border Gate expressway section (phase 1) has a length of 48.3 km passing through Dien Bien province, a cross-section scale of 22m, 4 complete lanes, with a speed of 80 km/h.
The starting point of the project is located at the border between Son La and Dien Bien provinces (connected to the CT. 03 expressway passing through Son La province); the ending point is at the IC5 intersection (Km48+300), connecting to Muong Thanh ward, Dien Bien province.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Le Thanh Do - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council - said that the organization of the groundbreaking ceremony is not only the beginning of the implementation of a key transport infrastructure project, but also opens up a new development space, creating motivation to promote rapid and sustainable development, and strengthen regional linkages.
Mr. Le Thanh Do also proposed that the Provincial Traffic Works Project Management Board, departments, agencies, branches, and related localities proactively remove difficulties and obstacles.
Focus on effectively implementing site clearance and resettlement, ensuring publicity, transparency, and compliance with legal regulations. Absolutely do not allow losses, waste, or negativity to occur during the project implementation process.
Son La - Dien Bien - Tay Trang Border Gate expressway has a length of 155 km, of which Dien Bien province has a total length of 75.3 km.
In phase 1, the total length is 48.3 km, with a total investment of 23,252 billion VND; phase 2, connecting from Muong Thanh ward to Tay Trang border gate with a total length of 27 km, with a total investment of 8,717 billion VND.
