Many villages devastated after heavy rain

During the days of May 29 to 30, prolonged heavy rain caused heavy damage to Tuong Duong, Ky Son, Que Phong districts... Dozens of houses were swept away, collapsed or severely damaged. The bridge system and residential roads were cut off, schools were flooded with mud, and crops were lost.
In Nhon Mai commune, Tuong Duong district, people in Xop Tu village are still shocked. "When the flood came, the water rose very quickly. My whole family had to leave everything behind and run to the mountain to escape. In the morning, the house was left with only a pile of rotten wood and mud, said Mr. Va Ba Ly, a resident of Nhon Mai commune.
Similarly, in Huu Khuong commune, the temporary bridge was washed away, many villages were completely isolated. Students have to stay home from school because the school is damaged.
Mr. Dinh Hong Vinh, Chairman of the People's Committee of Tuong Duong district, said: "Never before has there been such a heavy and fierce flood. Many houses, buffaloes, cows, and rice were floating with the water, many families had only two empty hands."
Officers and soldiers stay in the village, helping people recover after the flood

Immediately after the rain stopped, hundreds of police officers, soldiers, and local militia stayed in the villages to support the people. They clear mud, rebuild houses, repair temporary bridges, and provide food to isolated villages.
The officers of Nhon Mai Border Guard Station divided into households to help people clean up, temporarily house cover, and transport the remaining belongings. Many officers stayed in the area for 3 days without returning, only eating instant noodles and sleeping at the checkpoint.
Chairman of the People's Committee of Nhon Mai commune (Tuong Duong) Lu Ngoc Tinh informed that after the flood, the direction of overcoming the consequences to help people soon stabilize their lives is taking place urgently.
In Ky Son district, the authorities have also supported the burial of victims swept away by floods, while clearing landslides and opening up inter-village traffic. In Hanh Dich commune (Que Phong district), border guards also helped people harvest rice before it was completely buried.
Currently, the work to overcome the consequences of floods is still being urgently deployed. Localities are compiling statistics on damage, making immediate support plans and relocating high-risk households to safe places.
