On May 30, information from the People's Committee of Tuong Duong district said that from about 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on May 29, heavy rain occurred in the area, causing serious damage in Nhon Mai, Huu Khuong communes and Thach Giam town.
Heavy rain caused the stream water to rise, causing local flash floods, sweeping away 14 houses. In Nhon Mai commune alone, up to 11 houses were completely damaged and drifted away, concentrated in Thil Tham, Co Ha, Na Lat villages and the central village of Nhon Mai. Huu Khuong commune had 3 houses swept away by floodwaters, including 1 house in Tung Hoc village and 2 houses in Huoi Pung village.

Many households in these two communes are living in a state of high anxiety because their houses are located on a hill at risk of landslides.
At Huu Khuong Boarding Secondary School for Ethnic Minorities, floodwaters and rocks flooded into students' dormitories, seriously affecting their daily activities and learning.
Production losses are also being counted. In the immediate future, many rice and crop areas were broken and severely damaged. In Thach Giam town, floodwaters flooded into a household's fish pond, killing all the fish raised.
Notably, 3 bridges for people were washed away (of which Huu Khuong commune had 2 bridges, Nhon Mai had 1 bridge), completely cutting off some villages. In Nhon Mai commune, two electric poles were broken, causing a complete power outage in the whole commune, and an irrigation project in Nhon Mai village was also swept away by floodwaters and gone missing.

Traffic on many inter-commune roads was eroded and congested, causing serious difficulties for people's travel.
Immediately after natural disasters, the Standing Committee of the District Party Committee, the District People's Committee, the Steering Committee of the Fire and Fire Prevention and Fighting of Tuong Duong District directly directed the overcoming of the consequences and encouraged the affected families.

The People's Committees of damaged communes are mobilizing police, military, militia and people to actively clean up, dredge mud, ensure safety, restore production and daily life.
"Currently, damage statistics and recovery work is still being urgently deployed. Local authorities call on all levels, sectors, and organizations to join hands to support people to soon stabilize their lives" - Mr. Dinh Hong Vinh - Chairman of Tuong Duong District People's Committee said.
