According to the Decision, Mr. Truong Canh Tuyen, Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Tho City, is the Head of the Committee, the Deputy Heads of the Committee include Mr. Nguyen Van Hoa, Mr. Vuong Quoc Nam, Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Diep, Mr. Nguyen Van Khoi, Mr. Tran Chi Hung, all Vice Chairmen of the City People's Committee; Mr. Duong Van Ngoanh, Acting Director of the Department of Finance.
The Steering Committee is responsible for directing the preparation, consideration and approval of the content of the adjustment of the Can Tho City Planning for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050, ensuring progress and quality according to regulations.
The Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Tho City also signed a decision on the establishment of a Council for appraisal of cost estimates for adjusting the City Planning for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050. Mr. Nguyen Thanh Si, Deputy Director of the Department of Finance, was assigned as Chairman of the Council.
The appraisal council is responsible for assisting the People's Committee of Can Tho City in appraising the cost estimates for adjusting the Planning, ensuring compliance with the Law on Public Investment and related legal regulations. The Council members base on the functions and tasks of their units to organize the assessment of professional content, ensuring objectivity, transparency and compliance with regulations.
Previously, the People's Committee of Can Tho City issued a plan to adjust the Planning for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050, after completing the arrangement of administrative units at district and commune levels.
Accordingly, the adjustment aims to ensure legality, remove difficulties and obstacles in implementing the current planning, while restructuring development space, optimizing resources and promoting the potential and advantages of the city.
Can Tho City is oriented to become a national growth pole, playing a role as a driving force for spreading and leading the development of the Mekong Delta region, with a synchronous, modern infrastructure system, adapting to climate change, towards a smart, green, sustainable and unique city.
The scope of planning adjustment includes the entire natural area of Can Tho after the merger, integrating previous planning of Can Tho, Soc Trang and Hau Giang. The preparation, appraisal and approval work is expected to be completed in 2025. After being approved, the adjusted plan will be widely announced for practical implementation.
