On August 26, the Traffic Police Department of Can Tho City Police organized a general inspection and handling of violations of road traffic order and safety for transport business vehicles in the city, in order to proactively prevent and reduce traffic accidents.

According to statistics, in the first 8 months of 2026, traffic accidents related to transport business vehicles nationwide accounted for 38.89% of the total number of traffic accidents and 71.71% of traffic accidents related to cars.
In Can Tho City alone, traffic accidents related to transport business vehicles account for 28.7% of the total number of traffic accidents occurring in the area.
Faced with the above situation, implementing the plan of the Traffic Police Department on general control and handling of violations for transport business vehicles, Can Tho City Police synchronously deployed measures, strengthened forces and vehicles to patrol and control on key routes and areas.
The Traffic Police force focuses on controlling traffic routes with large traffic volume of business transport vehicles; areas at risk of traffic accidents; wharves, yards, goods gathering points and places where the situation of stopping, parking, picking up and dropping off passengers and goods not in accordance with regulations often occurs.
The subjects of focused control include: business transport vehicles, drivers and vehicle owners. In which, focus on trucks, tractor trucks, vehicles carrying construction materials, vehicles carrying people from 8 seats or more and two-story sleeper passenger cars.
In the process of patrolling and controlling, functional forces focus on detecting and handling acts that are the main causes of traffic accidents such as: speeding; driving in the wrong lane; avoiding and overtaking improperly; using a phone while driving; driving continuously for more than the prescribed time; changing lanes and directions improperly; not complying with traffic lights, not keeping a safe distance.
In addition, the traffic police force strengthens the inspection of the conditions of drivers and vehicles; journey monitoring devices, driver image recording devices, and transport badges.
The acts of carrying more people than allowed, picking up and dropping off passengers in the wrong places, carrying overloaded and oversized goods, extending the cargo box and violations in transport activities are also focused on inspection and handling.
Through the general inspection phase, the traffic police force also reviewed the operating situation of passenger and cargo transport units; promptly detected shortcomings and inadequacies to coordinate with functional sectors to rectify and handle them according to regulations.
The general inspection was carried out with the spirit of "respecting the law", "no forbidden zones, no exceptions", contributing to improving the efficiency of transport business management, preventing and reducing traffic accidents in the city.
