A lifelong regret
Just because of 6 "ugly" bottles of bear honey bought for her mother who is suffering from cancer, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoang Oanh, residing in Lao Cai (character's name has been changed), lost 50 million VND when she believed the scammer, and her mother passed away early this year. This pain makes Ms. Oanh always tormented.
Ms. Oanh said that at the end of 2023, her mother was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer. The family has run to large and small hospitals for treatment, but her condition has not improved. Pitying her mother's pain, Ms. Oanh reluctantly sought traditional medicine, including bear honey and elephantine, to relieve her pain and relieve her mother's pain.
Coming to a Facebook group called "Red Fire" a forum to share knowledge and experience of cancer patients, Ms. Oanh was called by the subjects to be a "ute bear honey seller" ready to provide wild animal organs. However, the subject did not transact via Facebook but only used Telegram. The price of 1cc (1ml) of bear honey is 500,000 VND, the subject does not sell below 3cc. Immediately, Ms. Oanh ordered a total of 6cc for 3 million VND.
Not only buying it for her mother to use, Ms. Oanh also intended to do bear honey business even though she heard that this could be a violation of the law. When she suggested to the subject that she wanted to be a collaborator, she received a wholesale price of 400,000 VND/cc and had to transfer 20 million VND as a dealer deposit. The goods will be returned when she transfers the remaining 30 million VND. However, the subject blocked all communication as soon as he received the full 50 million VND.
"When I transferred the first installment, they gave me 50cc of bear honey. When the goods came to hand, I trusted them more and transferred the remaining amount to them. Later, I realized that these items were all fake" - Ms. Oanh confessed and added that she did not dare to submit a petition to the authorities because she knew this was wrongdoing.

"Letting go hunting for iron, catching cows"
Ninh Binh Provincial Police have just prosecuted and temporarily detained Quach Thi Nuong (born in 1981, residing in Hoa Binh) for fraud and appropriation of property. Due to debt and unstable employment, Nuong pretended to have deer, velvet and herbal deeds on social networks, deceiving many people to contribute capital to invest to appropriate money.
When he had created trust, many people trusted him and transferred money to Nuong to "invest and trade". However, Nuong did not use it to do business according to the agreement but appropriated the money to use for personal purposes.
Talking to Lao Dong, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Do Canh Thin - Criminal expert pointed out the fraudulent trick that super tricks often use. The subjects will hit the greed, self -interest and ignorance of the victim's law and society, using "releasing iron hunting, catching perch".
They provide fatty food to enhance their reputation. At first, when investing together, they are willing to eat and divide fairly so that the victim believes that they are investing in the right place and the money is easily "getting" out of the money. However, when the victim hands over a large amount of money and assets, they will take over and disappear.
"Many people who see the profit also mobilize money from relatives or borrow it to deposit with scammers. turning into a victim, you turn your friends and relatives into victims. Therefore, many people after losing money are psychologically affected, disrupted in their families, and some are depressed, commit suicide or lead to illegal acts..." - Associate Professor, Dr. Do Canh Thin said.
According to the Vietnam Wildlife Conservation Association (WSC Vietnam), in addition to measures to handle violations, the role of the community in wildlife protection continues to be affirmed.
Statistics from WSC Vietnam show that in 2024, there were 37 violations of the law on wildlife protection related to the use of social networks Zalo and Facebook.
Protecting wildlife is not only the responsibility of authorities and conservation organizations, but also a practical action from each individual. Everyone needs to say "no" to the consumption of wildlife products, not keeping wild animals for show, and proactively notify the authorities of violations.
