HUE - Thua Thien Hue will have heavy rain from September 22 to 24, warning of the risk of flooding in low-lying areas.

On September 22, the Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Control of Thua Thien Hue province said that from the evening of September 22 to 24, Thua Thien Hue province will have rain, scattered moderate rain, heavy rain, very heavy rain and scattered thunderstorms; during thunderstorms, it is necessary to be on guard against tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind. The total rainfall for the entire period is commonly 50-150mm, in some places over 250mm. Warning level of natural disaster risk due to heavy rain: level 1.

It is forecasted that the impact of heavy rain is likely to cause floods, flash floods, landslides, and rock slides in mountainous areas and along small rivers and streams in A Luoi, Nam Dong, Phong Dien, Phu Loc districts and Huong Tra town.

Warning to people, need to proactively guard against rain with intensity over 50mm/1 hour which can cause urban flooding and places with poor drainage systems in some districts, towns and Hue city.

Localities regularly monitor the development of storms and floods to implement measures: Prohibit all vehicles and people from traveling through routes with high to very high risk of landslides and underground areas, overflows, bridges and culverts with fast-flowing water, and flooded routes; place warning signs and arrange forces to guard people and vehicles; be ready to relocate and evacuate people at key, vulnerable locations at risk of flash floods, landslides, and flooding according to the "four on-site" motto.
