The construction project marks an important step forward in the development of transport infrastructure in the northern border area. After completion, the route will have a total length of about 121 km, designed according to TCVN 5729 2012 standards with a maximum speed of 80 km/h, a 17m wide roadbed scale, including a reinforced concrete bridge system, tunnel, drainage road and auxiliary works such as toll stations, intelligent transportation system (ITS).
At first, the investor consortium will focus on constructing the section Km92+500 - Km93+000 with the participation of a consortium of 5 large enterprises (Deo Ca Group Joint Stock Company, 568 Construction Investment Group Joint Stock Company, Hoang Long Construction Investment Corporation - Joint Stock Company, DCT 559 Investment Joint Stock Company, Tan Thanh Company), Project Enterprise (Dong Dang - Tra Linh Expressway Joint Stock Company, phase 2).
The project is expected to be completed in 2028, the route will not only reduce traffic congestion and accidents but also promote trade and tourism between the two provinces of Cao Bang and Lang Son.
Currently, the People's Committee of Cao Bang province is directing departments and branches to closely coordinate to ensure effective construction, with little impact on people's lives. This is a key project, contributing to the completion of the national expressway network and the socio-economic development of the region.
The Dong Dang - Tra Linh Expressway project has a total length of 121 km, divided into two investment phases. Phase 1, Dong Dang - Tra Linh Expressway is invested with a length of more than 93 km, starting at Tan Thanh Border Gate intersection, Van Lang district (Lang Son), and ending at National Highway 3 intersection in Chi Thao commune, Quang Hoa district (Cao Bang). The highlight of the project is the two tunnels through Dong Khe and That Khe mountains.
Phase 2 will have main tasks such as completely rebuilding from Km93 93+350 - Km121+060, expanding the roadbed of about 70km that was built from phase 1.
The road surface invested in phase 1 will be expanded from 13.5m to 17m (about 70 km) and will have interspersed emergency lanes.
