At the end of December 2025, Lao Dong Newspaper reporters' records at the section from the south of the Co Ma tunnel entrance to the Van Ninh intersection area showed that many repaired points appeared on the expressway surface, mainly concentrated in the Km289 and Km292 areas.

Observing from above, all 13km at the beginning of the route (from Km285 to Km298) have quite a few patches, including damaged locations with relatively large areas.
People living on both sides of the expressway said that recently they have often seen workers and machinery constructing and re-asphalting the road surface at some sections.
Talking to reporters, a representative of the Van Phong - Nha Trang Expressway Project Management Board (under Project Management Board 7, Ministry of Construction) said that the damage mainly arose due to the impact of rain and floods in the past time.
Initially, the damage was only on a small scale, but the unit has proactively expanded the repair scope to ensure smoothness, safety and long-term quality for the project. Up to now, all damaged locations have been handled.
According to Mr. Dang Van Dung - Director of Van Phong - Nha Trang Expressway Project, this 13km long section has completed all construction items outside the site.
Currently, the Project Management Board and related units are completing the necessary procedures to hand over the project according to regulations.

Although the project has been basically completed since September 2025, the 13km section mentioned above has not yet been opened to traffic because it is waiting for road management units to appraise and approve.
In which, the plan for organizing and regulating traffic, especially in the intersection area near Co Ma tunnel, needs to be carefully calculated to ensure absolute safety when putting the road into operation.

The Van Phong - Nha Trang expressway project is located entirely in Khanh Hoa province, invested by Project Management Board 7 (Ministry of Construction), with a total investment of 11,808 billion VND.
The route has a length of 83.35km, the starting point connects south of the Co Ma tunnel gate (Dai Lanh commune), near National Highway 1; the ending point intersects with the Nha Trang - Cam Lam expressway. Of which, 70.3km (section from Van Ninh area to Dien Tho) has been completed and put into operation from April 19.
