According to local reports, some initial damage statistics up to 6:00 a.m. on September 10, 2024 are as follows:
Regarding people: 103 people died, missing (63 dead, 40 missing). Of which: Cao Bang: 33 people (17 dead, 16 missing); Lao Cai: 29 people (17 dead, 12 missing); Quang Ninh: 9 people died (8 people due to storm; 1 person swept away by flood);
Hai Phong: 2 people died due to storm. Hai Duong: 1 person died due to storm. Hanoi: 1 person died due to storm. Hoa Binh: 4 people died due to landslide. Yen Bai: 7 people died, 2 people missing due to landslide. Lang Son: 2 people died due to flood, landslide. Bac Giang: 1 person missing due to flood;
Tuyen Quang: 2 people missing due to flood. Ha Giang: 1 person died due to flood. Lai Chau: 1 person due to landslide. Phu Tho: 8 people missing ( Phong Chau bridge collapse incident ).
Regarding the number of injured people: 752 people (Quang Ninh 536, Hai Phong 81, Hai Duong 5, Hanoi 10, Bac Giang 5, Bac Ninh 52, Lang Son 10, Lao Cai 14, Yen Bai 10, Cao Bang 12, Phu Tho 5, Bac Kan 1, Hoa Binh 1, Vinh Phuc 8, Thanh Hoa 2).
Also according to the Department of Dyke Management and Disaster Prevention, 85 boats of all kinds sank at anchorage in Quang Ninh.
Regarding agriculture: 148,632 hectares of rice were flooded and damaged (concentrated in Hai Phong 25,780 hectares; Thai Binh 11,000 hectares; Hanoi 15,563 hectares; Hung Yen 12,119 hectares; Hai Duong 18,500 hectares; Ha Nam 7,928 hectares; Lang Son 4,495 hectares; Bac Giang 14,933 hectares; Bac Ninh 9,830 hectares; Vinh Phuc 8,860 hectares, Thai Nguyen 3,512 hectares, Yen Bai 2,618 hectares)...
26,186 hectares of crops were flooded and damaged (concentrated in Hai Phong 2,614 hectares; Nam Dinh 509 hectares; Thai Binh 3,345 hectares; Hanoi 1,205 hectares; Bac Ninh 2,321 hectares; Hai Duong 3,000 hectares; Hoa Binh 5,914 hectares, Lang Son 1,393 hectares...).
11,038 hectares of fruit trees were damaged (concentrated in Hai Phong 2,550 hectares; Thai Binh 1,38 hectares, Hung Yen 1,841 hectares, Hai Duong 3,000 hectares,...). The storm also damaged and swept away 1,577 aquaculture cages (concentrated in Quang Ninh 1,000, Hai Duong 300...).
Storm No. 3 and its aftermath also killed 1,111 livestock and 680,243 poultry (concentrated in Hai Duong with 320,000 and Hai Phong with 345,610 poultry). Quang Ninh, Hai Phong, Thai Binh, Hai Duong, and Hanoi suffered widespread power and communication outages: 12 500kV power lines, 36 220kV power lines, 173 110kV power lines had problems, and 5,305 power poles were broken.
Due to the long duration of the storm and the sustained intensity of the storm, very strong gusts of wind damaged 48,337 houses (concentrated in Quang Ninh 20,245, Hai Phong 13,927, Bac Ninh 3,450, Lang Son 2,929,...); many shops, offices, schools had their roofs blown off or were damaged; many advertising signs, telecommunications poles, and mobile broadcasting stations were broken; urban trees were uprooted and broken along the roads in Quang Ninh, Hai Phong, Hai Duong, Hanoi... Localities are continuing to review and count the damage.
Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Hoang Hiep said that floods in the northern provinces are very intense, localities need to inform and proactively take drastic measures to support and ensure safety, life and property for people.
