On April 1, according to the reporter's records, in the Van Phu bridge area, Van Phu commune, Yen Bai city, workers are making concrete mounds for the road surface and expansion joints.
On the bridge surface, machinery and equipment are mobilized to repair the bridge. Many locations on the surface show signs of peeling the surface layer to drill and cut at the ditches and expansion joints at the bridge piers.
Previously, according to the reporter's records on March 24, the units had removed the face of Van Phu bridge to construct the expansion joints.
It is known that Van Phu Bridge is one of 4 bridges in Yen Bai province approved by the Chairman of Yen Bai Provincial People's Committee for a repair project at the end of 2024, constructed by the Joint Venture of Mechanical 68 Joint Stock Company and Thang Long Construction - Yen Bai Bridge Construction Joint Stock Company.
The total investment of the project is nearly 10 billion VND, completed and handed over on February 6, 2025.
Talking to reporters, Mr. Tran Duc Quang - representative of the construction unit - said: "The unit is handling the elevation of the bridge's expansion joints. This is an additional contract item implemented at the request of the Department of Construction of Yen Bai province and the Road Maintenance Management Board".
Meanwhile, Mr. Pham Hoai Nam - Director of Van Phu Bridge Repair Project Management - shared: According to the design documents, there is no such item. During the construction process, the unit discovered that the expansion joints of the bridge were tangled, so the investor requested the construction unit to make additional additions.
Van Phu Bridge started construction in 2002 and was completed in 2004. The bridge has a total length of 474.96m; a total width of 10m; the scale of the permanent bridge is reinforced concrete and prestressed reinforced concrete; the total investment capital is 50 billion VND.
