On July 29, information from Project Management Board 85 (Ministry of Construction) - the investor of Dai Ngai bridge project - said that from August 1, vehicles with 16 seats or less and rudimentary vehicles will be allowed to travel through Dai Ngai 2 bridge. The official opening date is scheduled for August 19.
Mr. Nguyen Anh Duc - the officer in charge of safety of the Dai Ngai 2 Bridge Project (Construction Corporation No. 1 - CC1) - said that the installation of the traffic safety sign system has reached about 90%. During the temporary circulation period, vehicles are only allowed to run at a maximum speed of 20 km/h to ensure safety.
Regarding the construction progress, the main bridge of Dai Ngai 2 bridge has been basically completed, reaching nearly 100% of the volume. Some contractors are continuing to complete the bridge surface aesthetic items. The approach bridges and approach roads at both ends of the bridge are in the loading phase to monitor subsidence. The unloading is expected to take place at the end of October 2025, after which the contractors will continue construction, striving to complete the entire approach road in 2025.
The Dai Ngai bridge project has a total length of more than 15 km. The total cost is nearly VND 8,000 billion. The starting point intersects with National Highway 54, in Tieu Can commune, Vinh Long (formerly Hung Hoa commune, Tieu Can district, Tra Vinh province). The end point intersects with Nam Song Hau National Highway, Cu Lao Dung Commune, Can Tho City (formerly Long Duc Commune, Long Phu District, Soc Trang Province). The project includes 2 main bridge works, Dai Ngai 1 and Dai Ngai 2 bridges. When completed, the project will help open the entire National Highway 60, helping the coastal provinces of the Mekong Delta shorten the distance from Ho Chi Minh City by about 80km.
