Tran Hung Dao bridge in Hanoi after half a year of construction

Hanoi - The Tran Hung Dao bridge project is being constructed between the Red River and Long Bien side, while most of the ground in the center has not been handed over.

The investment project to build Tran Hung Dao bridge was started on October 9, 2025.

The project includes 5 component projects, including 3 component projects for site clearance in Cua Nam, Hong Ha, Long Bien, Bo De, Hai Ba Trung wards and 2 component projects for construction: Component project 2 - investment in construction, renovation, and expansion of Co Linh - Hong Tien road at the Co Linh road intersection with Tran Hung Dao bridge; component project 3 - investment in construction of Tran Hung Dao bridge according to public-private partnership (PPP) method, BT contract, paid by land fund.

Component project 3 - investing in the construction of Tran Hung Dao bridge has a total length of about 4.18km; starting point at the intersection of Tran Hung Dao - Tran Thanh Tong; ending point connecting to Nguyen Son street.

The approach roads at both ends of the bridge have a total length of about 1.42km (about 0.30km from the city center, about 1.12km from Long Bien ward).

Complete construction investment at 3 intersections: Non-level intersection with Tran Khanh Du, Nguyen Khoai streets; intersection with Ta Hong dike road (Long Bien - Xuan Quan road) and Co Linh road (excluding construction and renovation of Co Linh - Hong Tien road belonging to the Co Linh road intersection with Tran Hung Dao bridge and roads connecting Lam Du road and Bat Khoi road with Co Linh - Hong Tien road); level intersection with Nguyen Son road.

Preliminary total investment including site clearance is about 16, 226 billion VND (of which, the total investment of component project 3 is about 8, 190 billion VND).

According to Lao Dong reporter's records on April 7, the project construction work is being implemented by the contractor in the middle of the Red River and on the Long Bien bank.

Meanwhile, the city center has not been deployed for construction because most of the land area has not been handed over.

According to the Hanoi Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board, for component project 2, the Department of Construction has issued a construction permit in construction permit No. 128/GPTC-SXD dated March 27, 2026 (phase 1), and the construction unit has organized simultaneous construction.

For component project 3, from the date of construction deployment on December 19, 2025 (Notice No. 803/TB-VP dated December 14, 2025), the investor has organized 12 construction teams.

To date, 114/128 bored piles for the main bridge section, 98/211 bored piles for the approach bridge section (Long Bien bank), 18/25 bored piles for Co Linh overpass, 50/264 bored piles for branch bridges have been completed; construction of steel plank piles for TC2, 3, 4, 5, 6 piers (1, 224/1, 224 steel plank piles), erosion and suction of TC2, 3, 4, 5, 6 axes (reaching 100%), completion of concrete pouring to block the bottom of TC2, 3, 4, 5, 6 piers, completion of TC7 pier bases.

According to the Hanoi Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board, component project 3 is expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2027 (if localities hand over the site on schedule); component project 2 (completed in 11 months, from the start date of October 9, 2025).
