The incident happened at about 10 am, the fire broke out from an apartment on the 7th floor of Lexington apartment building located on Mai Chi Tho street, Binh Trung ward, Ho Chi Minh City. As soon as the fire alarm rang out accompanied by a loudspeaker system from the Management Board, hundreds of residents had to panic and run to the ground. Because they were asked not to use the elevator to avoid getting stuck when the power was cut off, many people, including those carrying young children, had to run to escape.
At the scene, black smoke billowed from the apartment window, fire broke out inside, causing many properties to be burned down. While waiting for professional forces, many building staff bravely approached the scene, using mini fire extinguishers to initially control and prevent the fire from spreading to neighboring apartments.
Upon receiving the news, functional forces dispatched fire trucks and more than a dozen soldiers to the scene to handle the fire.
By about 10:30 am, the fire was basically completely controlled. Fortunately, the incident did not cause any casualties, but many belongings and furniture inside the apartment were damaged.
Currently, functional agencies are investigating and determining the cause of the fire.
