According to information from Cao Lanh City Police (Dong Thap), the fire was discovered by local residents at around 8:15 p.m. on September 30. Smoke and fire rose fiercely from a shoe store on Pham Huu Lau Street, Ward 6, Cao Lanh City, rented by Ms. Cao Thi Phuong (born in 1995) as a business establishment since 2013.
Because this facility sells clothes and shoes which are flammable materials, the fire broke out fiercely, smoke and dust covering the entire area.
The scene of the fire is a densely populated area, near Dong Thap University, so there are many students renting rooms. People living near the scene were asked by the authorities to evacuate to ensure safety.
During the night, Cao Lanh City Police urgently coordinated with the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department of Dong Thap Province Police to mobilize specialized vehicles and officers to the scene, deploy fire fighting plans and prevent the fire from spreading to adjacent houses.
Dong Thap Provincial Military Command also increased officers and soldiers along with vehicles and mobilized militia forces to participate in fire fighting and protecting the scene.
With more than 120 officers and soldiers, by 10pm the same day, the fire was basically completely controlled. Firefighters continued to spray water to cool down the fire, preventing it from smoldering and flaring up again.
According to authorities, the fire did not cause any human casualties, but the fire burned down the store, with an area of about 250 square meters, along with many other properties.
