On October 28, Mr. Vo Nhu Phong - Chairman of the People's Committee of Dien Ban Tay Commune (Da Nang City) - confirmed that a gas suffocation had just occurred in Phong Thu Village due to a power plant running, causing 8 people to be injured and die.
Of the 8 victims, there were 7 family members of Mr. Nguyen Quang Lanh (born in 1989), including: mother, Mr. Lanh and his wife, 4 young children aged 5 - 14, and 1 friend of Mr. Lanh.
According to initial information, due to prolonged floods causing widespread power outages, this family ran a generator for use. However, the closed room prevented emissions from leaking, leading to CO suffocation.

At around noon of the same day, people discovered that 8 people in the house were unconscious. Immediately afterwards, local authorities and authorities quickly arrived, using boats to take the victims to the main road to be taken to the emergency room.
"When put on a specialized vehicle, the victims still have a vital signs. However, at 12:44, at Cam Le Hospital, 1 person died, 2 people were transferred to Hospital C17, the remaining 5 people were taken to Tam Tri Hospital for emergency treatment, Mr. Vo Nhu Phong informed.
Local authorities are coordinating with authorities to clarify the cause of the incident and support the victim's family.
The authorities recommend that people absolutely do not use generators in closed rooms, especially in conditions of prolonged floods and power outages, to avoid similar tragic suffocation.
