Boats cross floodwaters, supply for isolated Hoi An residents

Da Nang - At noon on October 29, the authorities rowed boats to supply food to Hoi An residential areas isolated by floodwaters.

Nearly 3 days have passed since the floodwaters rose, many residential areas in Hoi An ancient town are still isolated. People have to wait for the authorities and relatives to supply each package of noodles, bottles of water, and essential foods.

Ms. Do Thi Loan (Hoi An ward) has been rowing a boat unable to rest for the past few days as she has been constantly asked by people on Hai Ba Trung and Ba Trieu streets to carry people, food, and provisions.

According to Ms. Loan, the flood water rose, not only Hai Ba Trung Street but also many residential areas in Hoi An ancient town fell into a similar situation, completely disrupting all activities.

"There are streets where people have flooded the entire first floor, so they have to quickly move to the second floor to cook, sleep, and wait for the water to recede. Many households in dangerous deeply flooded areas in the city are completely stuck, they can only wait for the authorities to provide food to their relatives, said Ms. Loan.

Following a boat with officers from Hoi An ward police, a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper was told that there are households in dangerous deep flooded areas that lack clean water for daily use, they have to ask the authorities to provide each can of water.

In recent days, the authorities have also issued branches to help people and provide relief food and provisions. The most heavily flooded area is the residential area in An Hoi, the water is still rising and flowing rapidly, only the motorboats of the authorities have reached, the people are all living waiting for food supplies, waiting for the water to recede.

According to the bulletin issued at 9:00 a.m. on October 29, 2025 by the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, currently, the flood on the Huong River is receding, the Bo River (Hue City) is changing slowly and is below alert level 3; the Vu Gia - Thu Bon River (Da Nang) is changing slowly and is at a high level; the flood on the Tra Khuc River (Quang Ngai) is rising rapidly.

In the next 6 hours, floods on Thu Bon River (Da Nang) and Tra Khuc River (Quang Ngai) will continue to rise and remain above alert level 3.

In the next 12 hours, floods on Thu Bon River (Da Nang) will continue to rise and remain above alert level 3; floods on Tra Khuc River at Tra Khuc Station will decrease and above alert level 3; floods on Bo River (Hue City) at Phu Oc Station will fluctuate at the peak level; on Huong River at Kim Long Station will decrease and remain below alert level 3; on Vu Gia River (Da Nang) at Ai Nghia Station will rise slowly and above alert level 3.

In the next 24 hours, floods on Vu Gia - Thu Bon River (Da Nang), Tra Khuc River (Quang Ngai) will decrease and be at alert level 3 to above alert level 3; floods on rivers in Hue City will decrease and be below alert level 3.

The situation of deep and widespread flooding in Hue City, Da Nang, Quang Ngai will continue to persist in the next few days; there is a high risk of flash floods on rivers and streams and landslides on steep slopes of provinces/cities from Hue City to Quang Ngai.
