On March 4th, Thuan An Ward Police, Ho Chi Minh City, received and handled the handover of a white-bellied sandpiper individual from a resident in the area.
Previously, Mr. Phan Hoang Thanh (resident in Hung Tho neighborhood, Thuan An ward) discovered a particular-shaped bird flying into his house. Mr. Thanh proactively arrested and carefully cared for it in the cage to ensure the safety of the animal.
Realizing that this is not an ordinary bird but may be on the list of rare birds, Mr. Thanh directly went to the headquarters of Thuan An Ward Police to report and hand it over to functional agencies.
Thuan An Ward Police said that through preliminary inspection, it was determined that this was a white-bellied sand duck individual. This is an animal belonging to Group IIB in the list of endangered, precious, and rare forest plants and animals that need to be prioritized for protection. Immediately after receiving it, the Ward Police proceeded with receiving and handling procedures in accordance with regulations.
