HCMC - Nguyen Duy Trinh Street (from Ring Road 2 to Phu Huu Industrial Park) will be expanded from 7 m to 30 m, accommodating 6 lanes to eliminate the "black spot" of accidents.

Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Van Duoc has just directed the implementation of the Resolution of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council on adjusting the investment policy for the project to upgrade and expand Nguyen Duy Trinh Street (from Ring Road 2 to the road to Phu Huu Industrial Park).

The Nguyen Duy Trinh Street expansion project was approved by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council in 2015 with a total investment of more than 832 billion VND, with the implementation period of 2017 - 2021. However, due to problems in compensation and site clearance, the project has been stalled for many years.

By the end of September 2025, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council approved an adjustment to the investment policy, raising the total investment to VND 1,859 billion, extending the implementation period to 2028.

Of which, compensation, support and resettlement costs account for more than 80%, increasing from VND507 billion to VND1,506 billion - three times higher than the original estimate.

According to the plan, compensation, support and resettlement work is expected to be implemented in 2026. The project started construction at the end of 2026 and was completed at the end of 2027.

To ensure progress, the Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee assigned the Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board (investor) to coordinate with the People's Committee of Long Truong Ward to review the zoning plan, ensuring that the project is in accordance with the plan approved by the Prime Minister.

At the same time, investors must review the scope of related projects in the area such as the expansion of the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway or the North - South high-speed railway line, to avoid overlapping land acquisition boundaries.

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction is assigned to guide investors to promptly complete the appraisal and approval of investment project adjustments, creating a basis for the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council to arrange additional capital in 2025. The Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee requested that the delay in completing procedures should not affect the project's progress.

Regarding compensation and site clearance related to 275 households, the leaders of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee assigned the Department of Agriculture and Environment to preside over and coordinate with units to guide, count, and measure, ensuring compensation work takes place within the planned boundaries and the set progress.

Nguyen Duy Trinh Street is a vital route connecting Phu Huu Port area, Phu Huu Industrial Park with Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway.

The narrow road, the density of container trucks makes traffic accidents happen frequently, and is called the "road of death" by the people.

When completed, the road will be expanded to 6 lanes, with a cross-section of 30 m, which will reduce traffic pressure, increase connectivity to the eastern area and ensure safety for people.
