On October 19, the Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board (HCMC Traffic Board) said that the Ring Road 2 - Pham Van Dong intersection is an important item of the Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 2 project (section 2), over 2.4 km long, stretching from Vo Nguyen Giap Street to Pham Van Dong Street.
Currently, the Traffic Department is completing procedures to approve construction drawings and estimates to organize bidding for the construction of the main road in October and November 2025, expected to start construction at the end of November 2025.
As for the construction package for the Ring Road 2 - Pham Van Dong intersection, the Traffic Department is urgently preparing, appraising and approving the construction drawing design, and at the same time preparing to select a construction contractor, expected to start construction at the end of December 2025.

According to the design, the Ring Road 2 - Pham Van Dong intersection is built with a scale of 3 floors, including underpass, overpass and a synchronous traffic surface.
The first floor consists of two overpasses. In which, Bridge No. 1 has two branches, 6 two-way lanes located on Ring Road 2, crossing Linh Dong, Pham Van Dong, Kha Van Can and Ngang Canal streets. Bridge No. 2 has 2 lanes, for vehicles turning left from Ring Road 2 to Pham Van Dong, towards Tan Son Nhat airport.
The 2-lane underpass for the right turn from Pham Van Dong Street (towards Tan Son Nhat Airport) to the National Highway 1 - Go Dua intersection.
On the ground, the traffic organization system will be adjusted to suit the operation of overpasses and underpasses, ensuring smooth and safe traffic.
The Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Department also said that in the next phase of the Ring Road 2 project, this intersection will be supplemented with another overpass, with a scale of 4 lanes for two directions, going straight along Pham Van Dong Street.

The Ring Road 2 section from Vo Nguyen Giap to Pham Van Dong has a total investment of about VND4,500 billion, and is one of the four remaining unclosed sections of the entire Ring Road 2 of Ho Chi Minh City.
In addition, section 1 of Ring Road 2, 3.5 km long (from Phu Huu Bridge to Vo Nguyen Giap) with a total capital of more than VND 9,328 billion, will also start construction at the end of this year.
According to the plan, both sections will be completed in 2027, forming a continuous traffic axis connecting major areas and ports such as Cat Lai, Phu Huu, Truong Tho, while reducing traffic congestion in the East of Ho Chi Minh City.
