On the morning of August 25, Mr. Le Hong Vinh - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention - Search and Rescue and Civil Defense of Nghe An province directly inspected the response to storm No. 5 in the coastal commune of An Chau, an area assessed as having high risks.
An Chau commune (old Dien Chau district) has about 43,000 people, of which 185 aquaculture households on an area of nearly 100 hectares, with 86 farming households outside the sea dike - an area with many potential dangers when the storm makes landfall. Statistics show that the whole commune has 380 households having to relocate and concentrate in the old Dien Trung commune area.
Since the afternoon of August 24, local authorities have evacuated people to safe places such as Kindergarten, Dien Trung Primary School, Commune Health Station and arranged for some households to live with relatives' houses. However, until this morning, there were still some households staying at the coastal farm, and the authorities had to mobilize forces to mobilize them to leave the dangerous area.
At the scene, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Hong Vinh requested local Party committees and authorities to resolutely take all people to safe shelters, while ensuring logistics and facilities at relocation points. He also noted that the situation must be closely monitored and emergency support plans must be prepared when the storm is directly affected.
