On the morning of August 25, information from the People's Committee of Quang Tri province said that by 5:00 a.m. the same day, the whole province had completed the on-site relocation and evacuation and concentrated 1,362 households with 4,139 people.
People are mainly arranged from temporary and unstable houses to solid structures and high houses to avoid storms.
Due to the impact of storm No. 5, many localities in the area had moderate and heavy rain, while on Con Co island there were strong winds of level 6, gusting to level 8.
After reviewing that the whole province currently has 85 landslide risk points, the People's Committee of Quang Tri province has directed localities to complete the relocation plan, specifically determine the number of households and people subject to evacuation, and prepare forces, means, and necessary logistics.
Quang Tri province has also established 5 defense areas at key locations, ensuring the function of commanding, coordinating, and acting as a support for logistics, forces, and means in case of emergency situations. The reservoirs in the area are operating safely, with an average capacity of 54.22% compared to the design.
Localities are required to continue monitoring storm developments, be ready to deploy evacuation promptly and safely, minimize damage to people and property in case of prolonged heavy rain or sudden landslides.
