On July 17, Mr. Duong Mah Tiep - Vice Chairman of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee signed an official dispatch requesting communes and wards in the area to prepare plans and scenarios to respond to floods and natural disasters.
The province requests communes and wards, especially in areas that are frequently flooded, cut off, or isolated, to proactively review and arrange appropriate on-site rescue vehicles.
Vehicles such as basket boats, rubber boats, small boats, aluminum sampans, life jackets, round buoys, lifelines, flashlights, handheld speakers... need to be carefully and fully prepared for use when needed, especially when river and stream water rises or widespread power outages occur.
Each area that is frequently deeply flooded, divided, residential areas in deep alleys, low-lying areas must have plans to arrange at least 2-3 small, mobile vehicles to promptly approach, support evacuation, rescue, and relief for people.
The provincial government requests communes to resolutely evacuate people from dangerous coastal areas, riverside areas, low-lying areas, areas at risk of flash floods and landslides.
At the same time, do not let people stay on ships, boats, cages, watchtowers, weak houses or areas at risk of unsafety when there are strong storms and heavy rains and floods.
Responding to rain and floods is not only based on forecast bulletins and hydrometeorological warnings, but also must closely monitor actual developments at the scene to provide appropriate direction, in order to ensure the safety of people's lives and property.
The historic rainy and flood season at the end of 2025 caused heavy economic damage to Gia Lai province with trillions of VND in damage; thousands of houses and transportation infrastructure systems were damaged; boats, property, and crops were swept away by floods...
