According to the BTL of the Coast Guard 4, in the first 3 months of 2025, the situation of Vietnamese fishing vessels exploiting seafood in the Southwest waters violating the regulations on IUU has decreased significantly, the fishing vessel crossing the boundary to foreign waters plummeted.
Colonel Nguyen Van Tranh - Deputy Commander of the Coast Guard Region 4 - said that the unit has effectively coordinated with forces such as Navy, Fisheries, Border Guard, Police and People's Committees of Kien Giang, Ca Mau, Bac Lieu, Soc Trang, Ba Ria - Vung Tau provinces in the propaganda to fishermen.At the same time, proactively coordinating to investigate and handle cases, promptly prevent IUU exploitation right from the time of fishing vessels.The coordination of communion, exchange of information, notification of the situation between local forces and the Coast Guard has also been strengthened, contributing to improving the efficiency of management and handling of violations.
In addition, the BTL of the Coast Guard 4 often coordinates closely with the propaganda forces to remind ship owners with vehicles in the field of losing the journey monitoring signal, showing signs of suspicion to foreign waters to exploit fish in a timely and effective manner.Periodically organize the conference to draw experience in implementing the task of fighting against IUU exploitation with localities and union units to improve efficiency in the process of performing tasks.
